Storm Worm and AVG's new Rootkit detector.
On tonight's Tech Check, Chase and Sam talked about the Storm Worm, a serious security threat that initially began in January of this year, and has now returned with a vengeance in slightly mutated form. It is important that you never open a suspicious email attachment, even if it appears to have come from a friend or colleague. Here is more information: CLICK HERE

One of the interesting things about the current Storm Worm variant, is that it will install a rootkit on your system. Rootkits are similar to to a Trojan Horse style malware, but are much more difficult to detect by anti-virus products. There are likely many people in America with updated antivirus software on their computer that also contains an installed rootkit. Could you have a rootkit? It's a good idea to scan your system to make sure. AVG has just released a free rootkit scanner that can be downloaded from this link: CLICK HERE.
